Chase Online Banking | Role: Interaction Design Director
This proposed redesign of Chase’s online banking interface is based upon human-centered insights, suggesting that people relate to and structure their finances across a series of “stacks.” This modular approach allows users to manage funds intuitively and to dedicate certain accounts toward achieving specific goals.
Intuitive Account Management
The interface approach presents accounts as stacks. This powerful object-oriented way of showing accounts allows users to transfer funds across accounts by dragging and dropping from one pile to another and specifying the desired amount of funds to transfer. This provides easy money management across various accounts and insight into how a customer’s financial picture progresses. Account activity and communications are featured at the top of the interface.
A More Intuitive Way to Relate to and Control Finances
Customers are presented with an overview of various accounts visualized as stacks of cards inviting object-level interaction. Information related to accounts or financial goals is presented. This includes estimated buffer amounts that are safe to spend or progress bars showing how close customers are to achieving a savings goal.
Drag and Drop Functionality
The object-oriented aspects of the interface support simple and intuitive functions such as dragging and dropping amounts between accounts for easy transfers.
