Embracing Nature: A Bivouac-Inspired Home

In the rugged landscape of New Zealand's Queenstown-Glenorchy Road lies an architectural marvel inspired by the simplicity and integration of traditional bivouacs. Designed by Vaughn McQuarrie for Alan Luckie and Jen Arnold, this home blends seamlessly with its schist-heavy hillside environment.

The design reflects natural forces, featuring concrete panels and bandsawn timber reminiscent of tramping huts. With a high-ceiling design optimized for thermal efficiency and framed mountain views, this 112-square-meter home showcases a commitment to ecological footprint and aesthetic harmony.
